Your imagination knows no limits! 🎨✨
The Vision Crew are five extraordinary animals that show us how diverse and fascinating visual perception can be. Each of them has a unique way of seeing the world – and each brings their own personality!
Australian Shepherd
Toffi is the cheerful, energetic heart of the Vision Crew! As an Australian Shepherd, she loves movement, play, and action. Her enthusiasm is contagious and brings life to every round. Toffi stands for the joy of seeing and living – full of energy and positive vibes!
Chameleon
Lino is the creative problem solver of the crew! As a chameleon, he flexibly adapts to new situations and always finds a way. He is brave, energetic, and full of drive. His adaptability makes him the perfect team player who stays calm even in difficult moments.
Elephant
Ella is the loving soul and caring heart of the Vision Crew! She takes care of everyone, is patient and empathetic. With her exceptional memory, she preserves not only memories but also feelings and important moments. Ella shows us how closely images and emotions are connected.
Cat
Milo is the relaxed observer with the special ability to stay calm in any situation. As a cat, he observes carefully before acting. His calmness and intuitive sense make him the wise advisor of the crew. Milo shows us that sometimes you should pause to see clearly.
Owl
Olli is the wise strategist and voice of reason! As an owl, he plans ahead, thinks thoroughly, and keeps an overview. His structure and organization help the crew find the right way even in chaotic moments. Olli teaches us that good vision also needs good planning.
Special cards for extra points
A joker pair is worth twice as much as a normal pair: 2 Points instead of 1 point! They show that you not only know individual characters but understand the big picture.
Each character represents a special visual ability. Discover how differently animals see – and how human vision differs from it!
What does the card show? Toffi with a ball, her eyes firmly focused on the movement!
Dogs like Toffi have a particularly wide field of vision (up to 240°, depending on breed!) and can detect movements much better than stationary objects. Their eyes are specialized to immediately detect even the smallest movements at the edge of their field of vision. This makes them fantastic hunters and guardians! Particularly impressive: Dogs see up to 70 frames per second (humans only about 60), allowing them to perceive movements even more smoothly and in more detail.
Humans have a narrower field of vision (about 180°), but much sharper central vision and better color vision. To track moving objects, we use our eye muscles. Depending on speed, eye movements are either continuous (smooth) or jerky (saccadic).
What does the card show? Lino with both eyes looking in different directions!
Chameleons can move each of their eyes completely independently – up to 360°! This gives them an almost 360° field of vision without moving their head. Perfect for hunting: One eye searches for prey, the other keeps an eye on the surroundings. When they spot an insect, both eyes focus on it to perfectly judge the distance.
Humans work exactly the opposite way: Our two eyes MUST work together! This cooperation is called "vergence". Only then does a sharp, three-dimensional image emerge. Our eyes must coordinate perfectly so we can judge distances correctly.
What does the card show? An opened treasure chest full of glowing lights and memories!
Elephants have an extraordinary visual memory. They can remember places, paths, individuals, and events for decades. Their brain stores visual information like a huge internal map. Elephants recognize their peers even after many years and remember watering holes they only visited once in their lives.
Humans can imagine things "in the mind's eye" – even when we don't currently see them. This ability is called visualization or visual imagination. Ella shows us: Images and emotions are closely linked! When we remember something, we don't just see images, but also feel the emotions from that time.
What does the card show? Two glowing cat eyes in the darkness!
Cats are masters of light adaptation: Their pupils can change from narrow slits (in bright light) to 90% opening (in darkness). The tapetum lucidum – a reflective layer behind the retina – acts like a mirror and amplifies light. That's why cat eyes glow in the dark! They can see with 1/6 of the light that humans need.
However, their eye lens is rigid. Cats cannot "focus" well – they see nearby objects (under 30cm) blurry.
Humans have a different superpower: we can see sharply at all distances! This is achieved through accommodation! Our eye lens is flexible and can change its shape – thick and curved for near, flat for far. This way we focus lightning-fast, like autofocus on a camera. This ability allows us to look from a book to a board and back in seconds.
What does the card show? A large rotation arrow around Olli's head!
Owls have a big "Problem": Their eyes cannot move! They are firmly anchored in the skull. Instead, they have 14 neck vertebrae (humans only 7!) and can rotate their head up to 270°. This still allows them a perfect all-around view. Their large eyes are perfectly optimized for night hunting – they can see excellently in the dark. Compared to us humans, owls see 2-3x sharper!
Humans have the best of both worlds: We can move our eyes AND turn our heads! Our eye muscles allow quick eye jumps (saccades) and smooth tracking of movements. This flexibility makes us incredibly efficient at capturing our surroundings.
Each character has two emotion cards: one healthy and one challenging emotion. This way we learn that all feelings are part of life – and that it's important to understand and acknowledge them!
Cheerful • Enthusiastic • Joyful • Optimistic
Toffi radiates joy! She finds something positive in everything, loves to play and romp. Her enthusiasm is contagious and motivates others to join in and have fun. With Toffi, every day becomes an adventure!
Hyperactive • Hyperactive • Restless • Chaotic
When Toffi's energy gets out of hand, she becomes overexcited and can't sit still. She jumps from one idea to the next, can't concentrate, and sometimes gets too wild. Her restlessness can stress others and exhaust herself.
Brave • Motivated • Energetic • Determined
Lino is full of drive and courage! He tackles things, is creative, and always finds new ways. His healthy drive helps him overcome challenges and achieve his goals. With Lino on the team, you feel ready for anything!
Angry • Annoyed • Frustrated • Aggressive
When Lino's drive is blocked or things don't go as planned, he can become angry and furious. His energy then turns into anger, and he quickly becomes frustrated or even aggressive. In such moments, he needs time to calm down.
Caring • Compassionate • Patient • Empathetic
Ella is the heart of the Vision Crew! She lovingly cares for everyone, is compassionate and patient. Her care gives others security and comfort. She remembers important moments and feelings and is always there for her friends.
Panicky • Over-worried • Controlling • Anxious
When Ella's care gets out of hand, she becomes panicky and over-worried. She wants to control and protect everything, constantly worries, and sees dangers everywhere. Her fear paralyzes her and can constrict others, even though she means well.
Relaxed • Calm • Peaceful • Intuitive
Milo radiates peace and calm! He doesn't get flustered, observes first and then acts thoughtfully. His relaxation has a calming effect on others and helps in stressful situations. With Milo, everything becomes a little easier.
Sad • Withdrawn • Isolated • Melancholic
Milo can actually be good alone, but if this lasts too long, it can turn into loneliness. He misses friends to play with, is sad and melancholic. He withdraws more and more and feels lonely, even when others are around him.
Wise • Structured • Thoughtful • Organized
Olli is wisdom personified! He plans ahead and thinks thoroughly. His structure and order help the crew make good decisions. He keeps an overview and sees the big picture, even when it gets complicated.
Anxious • Worried • Brooding • Frozen
When Olli loses his structure, feels overwhelmed by many tasks, or chaos reigns around him, he becomes insecure and gets scared. He feels like losing control and literally freezes – he can't get anything done anymore.
