💖 The Emotion Bonus Round

This bonus round promotes emotional intelligence and communication! The order ensures that no one is disadvantaged and everyone can fairly collect bonus points.

😢 Step 1: The Unlucky Player (if present)

Who is this? Someone who won NO pairs at all.

Bonus point chance 1:

  • Freely choose any emotion from the game
  • Tell a short story from your life about this emotion (2-3 sentences are enough!)
  • Voluntary! You can also say "No thank you"

Result: +1 bonus point

Bonus point chance 2 (ADDITIONAL!):

  • Listen carefully to the stories of other players
  • If you remember a story about a shared experience with a player about their discussed emotion, tell it!
  • You can tell multiple such "connection stories" and catch up

Result: +1 bonus point per connection story

💡 Example:
Player A tells about "Joy" at a concert.
You say: "Oh yes! I was there with you, we both had that huge joy!" = +1 bonus point

Step 2: Players WITHOUT Emotion cards

Who is this? You won Welcome or Visual Ability cards, but NO Emotion cards.

  • Look at which characters you have
  • Think about which emotions fit this character (e.g., Toffi = Joy or Impatience)
  • Choose one of these emotions from the game
  • Tell a short story (2-3 sentences) about this emotion
  • Voluntary! You can also say "No thank you"

Result: +1 bonus point

Step 3: Players WITH Emotion cards

Who is this? You won at least 1 Emotion card.

Order: Whoever has the fewest Emotion cards starts. Whoever has the most goes last.

  • Choose ONE of your won Emotion cards
  • Tell a short story or experience about this emotion (2-3 sentences)
  • Voluntary! You can also say "No thank you"

Result: +1 bonus point

💡 Important notes for the Emotion bonus round:
  • Short stories are enough! 2-3 sentences are plenty
  • Be honest: Real experiences are most valuable
  • Listen actively: Other people's stories are exciting!
  • No pressure: If you don't want to, that's completely okay
  • Respect: All feelings are welcome and respected

👁️ The Visual Superpowers

Each character represents a special visual ability. Discover how differently animals see – and how human vision differs from it!

Toffi's Superpower: Perfect Motion Vision

Toffi Vision

What does the card show? Toffi with a ball, her eyes firmly focused on the movement!

How do dogs see?

Dogs like Toffi have a particularly wide field of vision (up to 240°, depending on breed!) and can detect movements much better than stationary objects. Their eyes are specialized to immediately detect even the smallest movements at the edge of their field of vision. This makes them fantastic hunters and guardians! Particularly impressive: Dogs see up to 70 frames per second (humans only about 60), allowing them to perceive movements even more smoothly and in more detail.

How does this work in humans?

Humans have a narrower field of vision (about 180°), but much sharper central vision and better color vision. To track moving objects, we use our eye muscles. Depending on speed, eye movements are either continuous (smooth) or jerky (saccadic).

Why is this important for us?
  • Smooth reading (eyes follow the line from word to word)
  • Master sports and ball games (keep the ball in sight)
  • Safe driving (keep traffic in view, react quickly)
  • Hand-eye coordination (e.g., when writing, painting)

Lino's Superpower: Independent Eye Movement

Lino Vision

What does the card show? Lino with both eyes looking in different directions!

How do chameleons see?

Chameleons can move each of their eyes completely independently – up to 360°! This gives them an almost 360° field of vision without moving their head. Perfect for hunting: One eye searches for prey, the other keeps an eye on the surroundings. When they spot an insect, both eyes focus on it to perfectly judge the distance.

How does this work in humans?

Humans work exactly the opposite way: Our two eyes MUST work together! This cooperation is called "vergence". Only then does a sharp, three-dimensional image emerge. Our eyes must coordinate perfectly so we can judge distances correctly.

Why is this important for us?
  • Sharp vision at all distances
  • 3D vision and depth perception (e.g., when climbing stairs)
  • Reading without fatigue (both eyes work together)
  • Spatial vision (judge distances correctly)

Ella's Superpower: Treasure Chest of Memories

Ella Vision

What does the card show? An opened treasure chest full of glowing lights and memories!

How do elephants "see" with their memory?

Elephants have an extraordinary visual memory. They can remember places, paths, individuals, and events for decades. Their brain stores visual information like a huge internal map. Elephants recognize their peers even after many years and remember watering holes they only visited once in their lives.

How does this work in humans?

Humans can imagine things "in the mind's eye" – even when we don't currently see them. This ability is called visualization or visual imagination. Ella shows us: Images and emotions are closely linked! When we remember something, we don't just see images, but also feel the emotions from that time.

Why is this important for us?
  • Learning and remembering (images stay in memory better than words)
  • Reading and understanding (imagine stories in the mind's eye)
  • Spatial orientation and navigation (mental maps)
  • Creativity and problem-solving (sich Lösungen bildlich vorstellen)

Milo's Superpower: Glowing Eyes in the Night

Milo Vision

What does the card show? Two glowing cat eyes in the darkness!

How do cat eyes adapt?

Cats are masters of light adaptation: Their pupils can change from narrow slits (in bright light) to 90% opening (in darkness). The tapetum lucidum – a reflective layer behind the retina – acts like a mirror and amplifies light. That's why cat eyes glow in the dark! They can see with 1/6 of the light that humans need.

However, their eye lens is rigid. Cats cannot "focus" well – they see nearby objects (under 30cm) blurry.

How does this work in humans?

Humans have a different superpower: we can see sharply at all distances! This is achieved through accommodation! Our eye lens is flexible and can change its shape – thick and curved for near, flat for far. This way we focus lightning-fast, like autofocus on a camera. This ability allows us to look from a book to a board and back in seconds.

Why is this important for us?
  • Sharp vision at all distances (near and far)
  • Quick switch between near and far vision
  • Reading and screen work without fatigue
  • Flexibility in everyday life (look from phone to street)

Olli's Superpower: Head Rotation Instead of Eye Movement

Olli Vision

What does the card show? A large rotation arrow around Olli's head!

How do owls see?

Owls have a big "Problem": Their eyes cannot move! They are firmly anchored in the skull. Instead, they have 14 neck vertebrae (humans only 7!) and can rotate their head up to 270°. This still allows them a perfect all-around view. Their large eyes are perfectly optimized for night hunting – they can see excellently in the dark. Compared to us humans, owls see 2-3x sharper!

How does this work in humans?

Humans have the best of both worlds: We can move our eyes AND turn our heads! Our eye muscles allow quick eye jumps (saccades) and smooth tracking of movements. This flexibility makes us incredibly efficient at capturing our surroundings.

Why is this important for us?
  • Smooth reading (eyes jump quickly from word to word)
  • Quick orientation (scan environment without much head movement)
  • Sports without constant head movement (track ball with eyes)
  • Efficiency in everyday life (quick gaze changes)
